Bitcrusher

Bitcrusher is an Effect block which creates a digital distortion by intentionally reducing the resolution of audio coming from any Source blocks it’s connected to.

Bitcrusher is a post-effect. It processes the audio signal coming from any Source blocks connected to it by reducing the sample-rate and resolution, intentionally degrading the quality and creating distortion.

In the Bitcrusher’s options, setting the number of ‘bits’ defines the amount of reduction. The fewer bits, the stronger the effect, and the more simplified the incoming audio’s waveform becomes.

Bitcrushing is seen as a “lo-fi” effect, it embraces a quirk of how audio is digitally represented at low quality.

BlokDust’s Bitcrusher uses the bitcrusher component in the Tone.js framework.
